WHO WE ARE

The Association For The Welfare Of The Adult Deaf - AWAD established in august 1961 under the dynamic leadership of late Muhammad Yaqoob Butt (retired deputy secretary government of Pakistan) and registered on 19th October 1963 with the government of west, Pakistan in the year 1963 wide registration no. DSW/167 of 1963, from Lahore under voluntary social welfare agencies (registration & control) ordinance 1961 (xlvi of 1961).

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • To provide a common meeting place for the special person (Deaf).

  • To provide recreation facilities for special people (Deaf).

  • To improve their speech & knowledge.

  • To adopt measures for their welfare.

  • To impart social and technical education

  • To provide free medical facilities.

  • To assist and encourage them to secure gainful employment.

  • To rehabilitate them in their life.

  • To provide shelters to them.

  • To encourage friendly feelings and unanimity among the Deaf

  • On all subjects connected with their common well.

  • To secure organized action on all subjects relating to the interest of the Deaf.

  • To collect disseminate statistical and other information and educate people in the matter of special people (Deaf).

  • To help (Deaf) special people regarding government policies which beneficial for them.

  • To promote encouragement and render and possible help among skilled special persons (Deaf) and formulate schemes for the purpose in order to relieve unemployment.

  • To convince in remains and conferences at such places and time as deemed may determine from time to time.

  • To amalgamate or affiliate with any institute or association having objects altogether or in part similar to those of thus welfare association.

Activities & Results

  • Provision of common room and recreation facilities.

    • Deaf youth kept away from un-healthy and anti-social influences.

    • Building-up of a strong sense of fellowship and good citizenship in them, besides leadership and assumption of the independent role.

    • Production of good players and talented dramatists etc.

  • Provision of technical education welfare placement services.

    • Computer education

    • A large number of well trained and skilled people computer software and hardware expertise are well placed either their own establishment or good remuneration as compared with normal.

    • Not only dependent himself but helpful for their aged and infirm parents or other close relative

    • After training most of them well settled in their life.

  • Provision of other services (as and when feasible/demanded)

    • Development of goodwill and feeling of close fraternity with the association.

  • News interpretation in sign language

    • More understandings about current affairs of national & international level.
